Stockport based Debut Academy of Performing Arts has been recognised as the best dance and performing arts school in the North in this year’s National Entertainment Awards.
Debut Academy was shortlisted from over 30 schools from across the country to gain a place in the final 14 before taking home the accolade in the National Entertainment Awards’ North Regional, covering performing arts schools in the North and Midlands. Last year, student Chloe Astley won Best Solo Dancer at the awards, and in 2018, won International Vocational School of the Year.
Debut Academy has 300 pupils within their academy and they offer a full time funded BTEC in Performing Arts course in association with Stockport College. Throughout lockdown, the school has continued to provide students through online classes. With many families struggling financially over lockdown, the academy made sure their children still received classes for free during this time.
School principals, Carolann Bruce, Jenna Browne and Ryan James, expressed their pride in students and staff at the school for their hard work in helping the Stockport performing arts academy achieve recognition as the best dance and performing arts school in the region.
The award win for the school was announced via a virtual ceremony, livestreamed on Facebook on the 27th September.
