Stockport comedian Jason Manford apologised to his audience for arriving late for a gig by buying them all a drink and picked up a bar bill for £3,530.
Having been stuck in traffic for 2 hours he eventually arrived on stage at the Engine Shed in Lincoln 40 minutes late and to a great cheer as he offered to buy the sell out 835 members of the audience a drink by way of apology for keeping them waiting.
It was the first time venue manager Abbi Quinn had seen a celebrity show such generosity for lateness and said “It was really good of him.”
Manford was playing his second consecutive sell-out night in Lincoln and got stuck in traffic for two hours on the A628 between Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire.
He eventually made it to the stage at about 20:10 BST.
The comedian (above left) later tweeted with a picture of the bar receipt:
“Seemed like good idea to offer free drink cos of lateness! But shoulda added Kopparberg to the banned list of drinks!”
