Family rooms in the neonatal department of Stepping Hill Hospital have been upgraded thanks to support from Stockport NHS Charity.
The homely rooms with comfortable beds provide much needed rest for parents who want to stay near their babies.
New sleeper chairs can be made into a single bed and are easily moved to the nursery to sleep next to the baby, providing new support for families in more ways than one.
Stockport NHS Charity is the local charity for Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, dedicated to supporting every aspect of care at Stepping Hill Hospital and across local NHS community services. Other recent projects supported by the organisation include:
- Developing a Stroke Rehabilitation Garden onsite at Stepping Hill Hospital. This peaceful haven in the fresh air is used by patients and their loved ones to relax. Patients pot plants and take gentle exercise all helping regain memory and thinking, strength, stamina and balance.
- Purchasing Orientation Boards that display the date , time, and weather to help reduce anxiety for all our loved ones living with Dementia, making them feel more comfortable whilst they are receiving our care.
- Funding new triage kiosks for emergency patients, which will be in use when our new improved emergency and urgent care campus opens next year. The kiosks will provide instant guidance and signposting for our patients, saving time and relieving pressure on staff, helping patients get the care they need sooner.
