
LSH Auto, the dealership group behind Mercedes-Benz of Stockport is launching a recruitment drive to discover its next generation of apprentices as part of activities for National Apprenticeship Week.
Young people interested in learning more about becoming a Mercedes-Benz apprentice are invited to attend Mercedes-Benz of Stockport on Tuesday 11th February from 17:00 to 19:00.
Attendees at the event will receive a tour of facilities in Stockport and gain detailed information about the Mercedes apprenticeship scheme, the roles available, the application process, and what to expect if their application is successful. Anyone wishing to attend the event should email LSH Auto, specifying which event they would like to attend.
Becky Pitt, Talent Acquisition Specialist at LSH Auto, said:
“We’re excited to recruit the highest calibre apprentices to join our winning team in September 2025. We encourage anyone considering a career in the automotive industry to come along to our event. Our apprenticeship evening will offer the perfect opportunity to meet some of our current apprentices and colleagues, chat with them to gain real insight into the various roles available and enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of our state-of-the-art facilities to see where they could be working.
“Becoming an apprentice is a fantastic way to earn money and gain a qualification while acquiring invaluable real-life experience in your chosen career. We currently have 74 apprentices working across our Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Birmingham, Solihull, Tamworth, Stockport, Macclesfield, and Whitefield.”
Chris Birch, Parts Supervisor at Mercedes-Benz of Birmingham, started his career with LSH Auto as an apprentice in 2009. Chris shared:
“I began as an apprentice at Mercedes-Benz of Tamworth. After a year there, an opportunity arose to join the team at Mercedes-Benz of Birmingham. I completed my apprenticeship there, was nominated for Apprentice of the Year, and became a qualified parts specialist. In 2017, I was promoted to Parts Supervisor, where I now lead my own team.”
Jamie-Lee Baker, Parts Specialist, said:
“I began my apprenticeship in 2021 and completed it in 2024, winning Mercedes Benz apprentice of the year for 2024. Since winning this award I have qualified as a parts process specialist and have been able to promote the apprentice scheme with Mercedes-Benz. The apprenticeship has given me industry-specific training and practical hands-on experience. Being part of a prestigious programme, recognised for quality training gives me the opportunity to excel.”
Danielle Reynolds enrolled as a Light Vehicle Technician Apprentice in 2024, having previously worked as a dog walker. Danielle said:
“I love tinkering with cars and have always wanted to learn more about them. I’m also passionate about becoming a successful female in a male-dominated industry. Everyone at LSH Auto has been so kind and supportive from day one at my induction.”
LSH Auto offers ten courses leading to NVQ Level 3 qualifications. The three-year apprenticeships include Light Vehicle Technician, Retail Parts Advisor, Paint Technician, and Mechanical, Electrical, and Trim (MET) Technician. Eighteen-month apprenticeships include Customer Service Expert – Service and Customer Service Expert – Star Expert.
The Stockport facility is home to one of the largest Body, Paint & Preparation Centres in the UK. As part of this, LSH Auto has partnered with Bolton College to offer specialist apprenticeships for Paint Technicians, Panel Beaters, and MET Technicians.
