The Stockport Local Fund is the latest step to support our communities and follows the launch last year of the Stockport Local online directory of community groups and services.
‘Stockport Local’ is Stockport Council’s new way of working with communities. It’s about providing ways for neighbours to work together, care for each other and build stronger, thriving communities. This new fund is the latest step to support our communities.
Do you have a great idea that will bring people together?
We all try to look out for our neighbours and sometimes we can see opportunities to really help others, but we may not have the means to do so.
Councillor Elise Wilson, Cabinet Member for Reform and Governance at Stockport Council said:
“If you have an idea that will support people who don’t get out as much as they’d like, something that could bring them together with others and help improve their wellbeing, this is just the sort of idea we will be looking for when making Stockport Local Fund awards.”
Anyone can apply to the Stockport Local Fund. Awards will range from £200 to £10,000. You don’t have to be a formal group or organisation – we encourage applications from people or groups that have come together just to work on an idea.
If you’ve never done anything like this before, we know it can be daunting but the online process is quick and easy – you can even apply on your mobile phone. We can also connect you with people who can help you develop your idea and support you through the whole process.
Applications for this first round of funding need to be made by Sunday 5th August 2018. But if you’re not quite ready at this point, the good news is there will be more opportunities to apply in the near future.
