Following last month’s news of Stockport based C&C Insurance Brokers expansion into the Midlands, Yorkshire based director of C&C Tom O’Connell is celebrating two years of growth in Leeds.
Since late 2018, C&C’s Leeds office has been providing clients with a full range of insurance products covering a broad spectrum of industries as well as advice within the transport sector, an area in which the C&C Group has developed a reputation in providing specialist knowledge.

Tom O’Connell (pictured) joined C&C to open the Leeds office from neighbouring Gauntlet Risk Management where he had managed the sales team and is delighted to see how in just two years the company has become a key player in the region’s insurance broker network. He said:
We’re very fast paced and dynamic. We take an unconventional and modern approach to reviewing insurances for our clients, that sees us obtain better results than our competitors.
“We are very hands on and customer service/experience is at the heart of our business; it’s our commitment to leading the way with service standards which has led to organic growth through new customers and key partners.
“One of our biggest USP’s is our internal claims team. Unlike a lot of other brokers we don’t outsource our claims division, we pride ourselves in providing a market leading claims offering, as quite simply if you look after the claims the premium looks after itself.
“Growth has been made easier with C&C’s exemplary reputation within the market place, it’s C&C’s fierce independence and our specialisms within the transport sectors which makes us first choice for operators.”
Premiums within the motor market are generally rising due to a number of different factors but primarily due to increasing claims costs which have been impacted heavily by Ogden – the change in the Ogden discount rate from +2.5% to -0.75% reflects a significant increase in the total settlement of a claim. However despite the rising claims costs, Tom believes the insurance market remains very competitive at the moment:
There is a lot of rotation between capacity and appetite and now more than ever it’s important to partner with a broker who understands how to manage the market and has a good reputation within it.”
Tom also believes that a key factor for performance is their staff morale. He added:
We offer a very good working environment which attracts staff who enjoy working for us.”
C&C Insurance Brokers was established in 1975 and remains a fully independent broker named in the top 50 independent brokers in the UK, with locations in Stockport, Leeds, Hull, Chester, Dudley and Newport.
