Stockport Homes is launching a fire safety campaign for customers living in its tower blocks. The campaign is being run in partnership with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS).
The campaign will run throughout February and will include:
• a free safe and well visit from GMFRS for every customer;
• advice leaflets delivered through every door;
• posters prominently displayed in blocks;
• fire awareness training for Stockport Homes’ front line staff, which will be delivered by GMFRS;
• videos on the website and social media advising what to do when a fire breaks out in your flat or block; and
• fire safety advice via Stockport Homes’ website and social media pages.
As part of the campaign, the Community Safety Team for Stockport, along with Stockport firefighters, are providing free safe and well visits to customers living in blocks. Stockport Homes’ customers can pre-book their visit, by calling call freephone 0800 555 815 or visiting www.manchesterfire.gov.uk
Simon Welch, Director of Neighbourhoods and Support, Stockport Homes said,
“Since the Grenfell Tower Tragedy we have been working closely with GMFRS to reassure customers about fire safety in our blocks. This campaign aims to continue this work by providing customers with simple, easy to follow advice on what to do in the event of a fire in their flat or block.”

It’s also important that residents know how to keep themselves safe from fire and what to do if a fire breaks out. This important campaign will help raise awareness of fire safety, provide life-saving advice and allow us to help residents stay safe and well in their homes.”
