From June 2023, Stockport Homes Group has renamed its Anti-Social Behaviour Service as the “Safer Neighbourhoods Team” in light of the team’s evolving offer to residents.
Stockport Homes has been helping people across the borough deal with cases of anti-social behaviour (ASB) for the past 18 years. During this time the service has continually adapted to the regions changing demands, all of which ensure requirements are met and customers and communities are kept safe. The new name hopes to reflect how these services will be diversified to ensure tenants feel they are safe within their homes and can rely on Stockport Homes for their safety.
Alongside partnership work with Stockport Council and Greater Manchester Police and others, 17 colleagues work collectively within the ASB service to tackle crime across Stockport. Over the years, the service has evolved significantly and is now not just tackling traditional incidents of ASB, often associated with noise complaints and groups of young people, but also tackling more sophisticated forms of crime in communities in the borough, such as cuckooing, exploitation and hate crime.
The service plays a critical role in keeping neighbourhoods safe and delivers a CCTV service as well as a commercial offer to other organisations, within Stockport and throughout Greater Manchester.
Liz Smith, Head of Safer Neighbourhoods commented,
‘We are proud to be delivering such an important service within the Borough, and instilling confidence in customers and partners in the role we play in ensuring safety for everyone, whilst supporting the One Safer Stockport Partnership.’
