Stockport Homes Group launches recruitment support for local businesses

Businesses in Stockport can access support with recruitment and training via Stockport Homes Group, on behalf of Stockport Council and partner organisations.

Local businesses can tap into the expertise of the housing provider’s Employment and Training team who can advise on recruitment needs and leverage the organisation’s wide reach with the local community to help recruit the best individuals for your vacancies.

Employers are offered a unique package that includes Stockport Homes Employment and Training team working together to manage and design a training and recruitment event to identify quality candidates for vacancies and prepare the individual for beginning their new career.  Once individuals have completed the course, they are shortlisted to a select few who then make it to the final interview stage with the employer. Organisations benefit from hiring a fully-training new recruit, while unsuccessful candidates gain additional skills to help their job search in the future.

Through the scheme, Stockport businesses can access:

• Job advertising with Stockport Jobs Match – Stockport Council’s free-to-use job board. Adverts will be shared across social media, featured on email newsletters to local employment support partners and used in sponsored advertising campaigns where relevant to help you reach more local jobseekers to promote your vacancy.

• CV Matching from Ingeus on behalf of Job Centre Plus: receive a shortlist of suitable applicants matched to your job by a team Employment Support specialists. They’ll pre-screen CVs, help arrange interviews, provide feedback to applicants and provide free meeting rooms for interviews at their town centre office.

• Training and Recruitment Events from Stockport Homes Group. Stockport Homes Employment & Training team will design a short training course (from half a day to 3 days) to upskill potential candidates and help them gain recognised qualifications (from manual handling to food hygiene to customer service skills) and deliver a free recruitment event or assessment centre to help you identify quality candidates and prepare them for starting in their new job.

• Jobs Fair for National Apprenticeship Week and National Careers Week – promote your job or apprenticeship to active jobseekers in the Stockport area at in-person job fairs happening this February and March, or work with our team to create a short video job advertisement to be shared online during the week-long events.
