Stockport Homes’ employment team have successfully helped 12 residents into employment at the newly redeveloped Stockport Produce Hall.
The Produce Hall on Stockport Market place, which is due to open soon, has recruited 12 new staff, from chefs to cleaners through Stockport Homes’ pre-employment programme.
One of the successful candidates said:
“When me and my friend got onto this week’s course we were really pleased for the opportunity. I have some challenges around my writing and comprehension, dyslexia and this has been a barrier previously to jobs. My friend also has some mental health challenges and has been stuck in a part time bar job with no prospects for ages. She started this training programme really anxious and not speaking and by the end of the week has been getting up in front of everyone and speaking. I would like to thank the whole team for giving us these opportunities and being so supportive during the week.”
Robin Burman, Chair of the Board says:
“It’s fantastic news, to hear that we’ve helped 12 residents into work. Well done to all the candidates, I wish you all the best in your new jobs.”
