The team at Holiday Inn Express Stockport are celebrating being recognised in an internal awards event within the Interstate Hotels & Resorts Group.
The hotel’s team was honoured at the International Stand Out Awards, celebrating the successes of staff at Interstate locations around the world outside North America. Alongside Holiday Inn and Holiday In Express, the group’s brand include Marriott, Ibis and Hilton hotels.
The awards took on a different format this year due to the current Corona Virus crisis and were presented by Executive Vice President of the International Division, Nicholas Northam, via a virtual platform.
Hotel General Manager, Carl Butterworth (pictured above), won the award for Focus Service General Manager of the year which recognises him as an outstanding leader amongst his team and peers and leading them to an all green balance scorecard in 2019 seeing off strong competition from 94 managers from across the globe.
Sales Manager, Nikki Capobianco, also scooped runner up in the International Sales Manager of the Year award, where she was recognised for her consistent green sales balance scorecard.
Carl and Nikki commented:
It goes without saying we are both delighted and this was very much welcomed during these particularly difficult times.
“The hotel and Stockport in general will continue to thrive, we work with a fantastic hotel team and we look forward to continuing to grow and welcoming guests through our doors for a long time.”
Cllr David Meller, Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration at Stockport Council, welcomed further recognition for the hotel at Stockport Exchange:
Since opening at Stockport Exchange in 2017, the hotel has been a huge success and their outstanding customer service, combined with a first class location has clearly gone down well with their customers.
“The recent completion of 2 Stockport Exchange also puts them at the centre of one of the North West’s premier business addresses and along with our ambitious plans for the town centre and the arrival of Metrolink in the near future, will ensure they are a popular choice for years to come.
“Congratulations to Carl and Nikki on this much deserved award. I know that the team can’t wait to start welcoming guests again when it is safe to do so and providing the great hospitality that they are known for.”
Holiday Inn Express Stockport also boasts several other accolades, including awards from Interstate Hotels and Totally Stockport. During the coronavirus crisis, the hotel has been used by key workers to allow them to isolate from at-risk family members, or undertake necessary travel as part of their roles.
