The Stockport Holiday Inn Express has begin lifting opening restrictions to provide accommodation to business critical workers in sectors including construction and other government approved businesses.
The hotel, on Station Road, has been closed to the general public during lockdown, however it remains open and operational for those carrying out essential work during the Covid-19 pandemic, and has so far provided accommodation for employees from the NHS, Police Force, PPE manufacturing and medical supplies firms.
So far during the Covid-19 pandemic, Stockport’s Holiday Inn Express has been able to welcome 415 key workers through its doors.
Key workers have made use of the hotel to remain isolated from vulnerable members of their household while continuing to work, or because they have been required to travel as part of their job. As restrictions on sectors such as manufacturing and construction are lifted, allowing more people to return to the workplace, the hotel is now able to provide the same service to workers in these sectors also.
Nikki Capobianco, Sales Manager at the Holiday Inn Express Stockport, said:
Many business-critical workers are being faced with the difficult decision of staying away from their own homes and families in order to keep their own loved ones safe and well. By remaining open we can welcome these heroes in, providing a safe place to stay during these incredibly tough times, while they continue to carry out their work and do our nation proud.”
Guests will be required to provide evidence from their employer confirming the need for travel and that work is within an approved category and may open.
In order to protect both key workers’ and its own employees’ health and wellbeing, the Stockport Holiday Inn Express has also introduced stringent safe distancing measures and additional cleaning procedures, in line with UK government guidance. The hotel has also been providing a discounted room rate for key workers using the hotel.
Carl Butterworth, General Manager added:
Our biggest priority of course is the health and safety of those staying with us, and our own team, too.
“We’ve put in place strict policies such as deep cleaning between residents’ stays and contactless guest check-in and check-out procedures to minimise risk and provide peace of mind”.
