The 6th to 13th February 2023 is National Apprenticeships Week with a host of events taking place in Stockport for both apprentices-to-be and employers.
This nationwide event taking place from 6th-12th of February will provide you with any and everything you could possibly know or want to know about Apprenticeships as a whole.
What’s happening during National Apprenticeships Week 2023?
For employers
For employers, the national event is using the hashtags #FutureReady #YourPledge to encourage businesses to sign up to considering apprenticeships to help plan for their future skills needs. To help Stockport businesses understand how they can access apprenticeships to help build a secure skills base in the borough, the team at Stockport Jobs Match have created a short introductory guide to how to go about hiring an apprentice. Read more here.
Stockport College will also be hosting a lunchtime webinar on 9th February from 1pm to 1.45pm to give employers the chance to hear from from an experienced employer and an apprentice as to how the work-plus-training model works for them. Find out more here.
For apprentices
Demystifying Apprenticeships: A Twilight Careers Session for #NAW2023

Join Stockport Jobs Match and The Apprenticeship Store for this exclusive Online Careers Event hosted by Speakers for Schools. We’ll be joined by three of Stockport’s biggest employers, Sky, Three Sixty (part of Stockport Homes Group) and electronics manufacturer Nexperia, who will discuss their live Apprenticeship Programmes for 2023 as we talk about:
- What apprenticeship programmes are really all about
- The types and levels of apprenticeship roles available to you
- Entry requirements and career prospects for apprenticeships
- The advantages and success stories
Start thinking about what you really want to know about apprenticeships as you and your parents/carers will also be able to hear from and put your questions to two young people who are currently taking part in a Level 3 Construction Supported Apprenticeship and a Level 4 Project Management Apprenticeship.
