Stockport sports lovers will be the first to experience the UK’s newest immersive sports concept at ‘The Players’ Entrance’ in Merseyway.
The Players’ Entrance has already earmarked around 50 sites in towns and cities across the UK, but selected Stockport to open it’s very first ‘arena’ as founder and owner Steve Mottershead is from the town and believe its potential is unrivalled.
‘The Players’ Entrance’ allows people to settle every pub and playground debate surrounding their own sporting prowess by letting them assume the role of the star and take centre stage.
With a collection of mixed reality simulators including cricket, golf, F1, darts, baseball, football and tennis, the revolutionary concept allows people to face the very best and biggest challenges in every sporting environment.
Steve said:
“My background is in sport and I have a lot of friends and contacts in the industry, so I have been very lucky to have seen behind the scenes at top sporting events.
“I’ve attempted to putt on British Open greens, I’ve stood on the Lakeside and Ally Pally stages and I’ve kicked a ball on the turf at Edgeley Park and Old Trafford, and they are experiences that stay with you for life.
“The Players’ Entrance gives you those amazing stories to tell. From the minute you step through the roped entrance and onto the red carpet you can choose to try and recreate the runs scored off the thrilling World Cup Super over, you can steer your F1 car round Silverstone or try and master Pebble Beach with your golf clubs.
“How many conversations over sport start with either ‘I wonder what it would be like’ or ‘I could have done better than that myself’ – well now you can find out. And this is not a computer game, this is you physically hitting the shots, throwing the darts or driving the car. It takes immersion to a new level and I think people are going to love it.”

The Players’ Entrance officially opened on August 28th when former England star and TalkSport presenter, Darren Gough was the guest of honour.
Gough, who has scooped an Ashes hat-trick and is England’s second highest one-day wicket taker behind Jimmy Anderson believes the idea is destined to be a smash hit.
He said:
“The amount of people that have asked me to bowl one ball at them so that they can see would it would be like to face is unbelievable – and now it can happen in Stockport.
“This technology allows people to see what the pros are really up against whilst having an amazing time. I can’t wait to see how I get on!”
