The dedicated team – which is part of the Stockport Together Active Recovery service as well as supporting district nurses – offer support to people, their families and carers at what is a distressing time, focussing on the individual’s wants and wishes and supporting other team members in a role which can often be upsetting and harrowing.
Enhanced Support team resource manager, Stuart Bridgwood, who nominated the team for the award has worked extremely hard to develop, support and provide appropriate training for the team to enable them to carry out their work to a high standard.
Stuart said:
“I’m really proud of my team and this award is well deserved. Everyone in the Enhanced Support team is dedicated to their role in offering the people of Stockport the care and support they need in the final days of their lives.”
Councillor Wendy Wild, Stockport Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Stockport Together, said:
“This award is testament to all of the hard work this team does to ensure that people can receive end of life care at a place of their choice, which is often at home.
“Promoting best practice is important for all sectors, within both the home care and care home sectors, and I think it’s fitting that we pay tribute to those individuals and teams that demonstrate outstanding excellence within their work.”
The Great British Care Awards are a series of regional events throughout England and are a celebration of excellence across the care sector. The purpose of the awards is to pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.
