Local employers are invited to showcase their opportunities for work placements under the government’s Kickstart Scheme at a jobs fair for young people in Stockport.
The event aims to support the Kickstart scheme, a government initiative launched during the coronavirus pandemic to help under 25s into paid work experience placements. While jobs fair will be centred on the scheme, there will also be opportunities for employers to showcase full-time roles and other positions for young people offered through other schemes.
The Kickstart jobs fair takes place on Wednesday 3rd November from 11am until 2pm, at National House, 80-82 Wellington Road North in Stockport town centre.
The Kickstart scheme aims to offer hundreds of thousands of new, subsidised jobs for 16 to 24 year olds who are claiming Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment. Employers making use of the scheme will receive funding for 100% of National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week, plus associated employer National Insurance and auto-enrolment pension contributions. Employers can also receive £1500 per placement for setup costs, support and training.
Further eligibility criteria for the Kickstart Scheme is available from the government website.
Businesses wishing to book to promote their vacancies and meet prospective Kickstarters should contact JobCentre Plus Stockport.
