Stockport County Football Club and Stockport Armed Forces Community Organisation (SAFCO) will host a gala dinner to raise funds for the borough’s armed forces and veterans community.
Guests at the event on 16th February will enjoy a three course dinner, live music via a compere/singer, live comedy with members of Project Comedy, stand up comedians who have all served in the military, and a local band for those who like to dance. The evening will take place at the 1883 Suite at Stockport County’s Edgeley Park ground.
Donations for auction and raffle prizes will be gratefully received. All monies raised will go to supporting Armed Forces Day celebrations and other initiatives that support Stockport’s Armed Forces Community.

Funds raised through the gala dinner will support the activities of SAFCO, founded in July 2023, and made up of organisations, businesses and individuals who all share the common goal of improving life for Stockport’s Armed Forces and Veterans Community. Initiatives and services are delivered via SAFCO members across the borough aim to make Stockport the best place to be for all its 7,000 veterans who have served in the armed forces.
In June 2023 members of the SAFCO steering group delivered an event in the Stockport Market Place to celebrate Armed Forces Day. The first of its kind in Stockport cost just short of £7000 in total, and provided an opportunity for smaller organisations and charities to raise funds for themselves. Holding the event in the market place increased footfall in the town centre by around 40% which was great for local traders too.
To hold this year’s event, SAFCO are fundraising again but this year with an opportunity for a good night out whilst raising much needed funds for the AFD event and other initiatives.
