With Christmas around the corner, Stockport County players have joined the club’s Community Trust staff to spread festive cheer and joy across the borough.
Kyle Wootton, Ben Hinchliffe, Jay Mingi and Macauley Southam-Hales paid a surprise to the Treehouse Centre at Stepping Hill Hospital, handing out gifts and sweets to patients, families and staff whilst there.
The Treehouse unit plays a fundamental role at Stepping Hill Hospital, offering community and acute care to children up to the age of 16 who need assessment or admission for either unplanned illness or for planned surgery or investigations.
The players were joined on the day by Club President Steve Bellis, Community Trust CEO Alison Warwood and a number of Stockport County academy players. Vernon Bear and Father Christmas himself also made an appearance!
Players and staff distributed chocolates and soft toys to around 30 families and the staff on the day, taking time to talk and play with each – providing a much needed boost to everyone ahead of the Christmas period.
The visit to Stepping Hill’s Treehouse unit is just one of the ways Stockport County has sought to spread Christmas joy in the community this year. The week has also seen the club’s staff volunteer to provide meals for the homeless with The Wellspring and shared the club’s support of its Christmas Dinner Appeal.
