After a nail-biting season, a Stockport County play-off place has been secured, paving the way for promotion next season.
Last night, a well earned and valuable point gained at Chorley FC saw Stockport County secure a play-off place for the first time since dropping into the National League North. A remarkable run has seen the Hatters lose only one game in their last eight, and they currently sit in 5th position.
With just two games left in the league fixtures, if the club can stay in their current position, they will secure a home draw in the first round of the play-offs.
Commercial Manager, Simon Dawson, said
It is great news that we have put our destiny in our own hands this season. At this stage over the last two seasons, we have been looking to other clubs to do us favours, but this season, with the recent fantastic run, we have definitely made a play-off place and we have to momentum to finish the season strongly.
I am sure that the people and businesses of the town are keeping an eye on our results and form, but we need all the support we can get to get over the line and I urge all our friends in the area to get behind us for the last few games, including, of course the play-offs.”
Stockport County has been at the heart of Stockport for over 100 years, both on the field, for their army of loyal fans and by businesses who support the club.
County play their last home game, against Darlington, on the 28th April. Hospitality is available, but with things looking promising, the club are expecting a larger than usual crowd, so booking as early as possible is essential. Contact Simon via simon.dawson@stockportcounty.com for more details.
Alternatively, there is the option of just watching the match in the stands, with kick off being 3.00 p.m. County hold the record for the attendance at this level and are hoping that this could be broken again, if everybody gets behind the team.
