Stockport County has confirmed that the completion of the temporary roof structure at the Vitality Railway End of its Edgeley Park stadium.
The installation was carried out to improve conditions and the matchday experience for both home and away fans, and addressing operational challenges of the open terrace.
Gavin Bailey, Chief Operating Officer, said:
“We’re delighted to see the temporary roof now in place at the Vitality Railway End. It represents a significant improvement for fans behind the goal and for how we operate on matchdays.
“The new structure provides shelter from poor weather, creates a better atmosphere, and allows for improved segregation and direct access from the away coach park. Alongside the introduction of a dedicated away fan bar, these changes combine to deliver a much better experience for visiting supporters.”
The completion of this work also brings benefits for home fans. The revised layout of the stand allows full access for home fans in the Popside, helping to create a more connected, “horseshoe” feel to Edgeley Park on matchdays with the Cheadle End, Danny Begara and Popside all dedicated to home fans.
Bailey added:
“While this is a temporary solution, it’s an important step in our ongoing plans to develop Edgeley Park. We’re continuing to invest in the stadium’s infrastructure to ensure it reflects the ambition of the club and provides the best possible environment for all supporters.”
