Stockport County Community Trust has completed another programme of its free school holiday provision.
Funded by Great Places Housing Group, the project provided free healthy food and activity to young people in the borough in receipt of free school meals, with 30 children attending activities at St Mary’s RC Primary School in central Stockport during the half-term holiday.
Activities were facilitated by a team of Community Trust coaches while Stockport County’s Food and Beverage team supplied and delivered the free daily lunches, comprising nutritious sandwiches served up with a selection of healthy fruit and snacks. Activities included arts and crafts sessions, a trip to The Light cinema to watch Inside Out 2, and a surprise visit from Stevie’s Ices. A Halloween- themed fun day was the highlight of the week, and featured a ‘Spooky Vibes’ disco, apple bobbing and a mummy and ghost costume making session.
Olly McCall, who co-ordinates Stockport County Community Trust’s school holiday provision, said:
“It’s vitally important that children keep healthy and active during school holidays. Thanks to the support from our partners at Great Places, this programme really helps to meet that need.
“We’re also grateful to The Light for the reduced-rate cinema tickets, to Stevie’s Ices for the discounted ice-creams and lollies, and to the staff from St Mary’s RC Primary School for allowing us to use their facilities during the half-term break.”
