Stockport Council’s Executive has approved plans to change the way the Council manages its land and property portfolio, to save 30% of its property budget by 2015/16.
To achieve this, the Council will enter into a new partnership – the Stockport Strategic Property Partnership (SSPP) – with a Property Services Provider (PSP).
The chosen PSP is Carillion:CBRE, who will deliver the property services and ensure that the Council’s land and property assets are used efficiently and contribute effectively to transform public services and regenerate the borough.
Deputy Council Leader Councillor Mark Weldon said:
“To achieve greater efficiencies and collaboration between public sector agencies to deliver local community services, we are transforming the Council’s estate and property portfolios.
“I am confident that the new operating model will deliver an effective and efficient strategic property service to meet the Council’s future priorities.”
The aim is for the SSSP to be in operation by September, and the full PSP operational by February 2014.
Staff within the current provider, NPS, will be transferred to the new provider. Full consultation continues to take place with employees and trade unions.
