Stockport Council’s new Executive team has promised to ‘work hard every day to unlock the enormous potential’ of the town.
The new ruling committee marks 50 days in charge this week since Labour swept to power in May’s local elections.
The Executive is hailing a number of success stories, including £708,000 to improve parks, Sainsbury’s signing a deal at Stockport Exchange, free entry to Lyme Park and four retailers signing new leases at Merseyway Shopping Centre.
This month also saw the opening of the Alan Newton Cycle Way.
Stockport Council leader Alex Ganotis, said: “It’s been a fantastic start by the Council’s dynamic new Executive.
“The changes already delivered for local people and businesses speak for themselves – we are providing the leadership which Stockport needs and have hit the ground running during our first 50 days.
“The Executive knows this is just the beginning and we will continue to work hard every day to unlock the enormous potential which there is in every part of our borough, and to give residents the quality public services which they deserve.”
