Stockport Council has published its responses to an earlier engagement process on plans to develop a new leisure and community hub for Marple.
The LUF Engagement Report provides an overview of the engagement process completed by the Council, and provides a detailed analysis of all of the comments that were received from residents and how Stockport Council has responded to them.
The engagement process informed the formal planning application for the scheme, which was submitted in March this year. The project is being supported by a £20 million of Capital Levelling Up funding, with the development also set to include a number of active travel and highways improvements in Marple.
Alongside the updates on the public engagement process, Stockport Council has also updated on services being displaced or moved as development progresses.
As part of the project, Greater Manchester Police will be moving into Hollins House in Marple Memorial Park. Staff from Hollins House will be temporarily re-located into Marple Library on the 1st Floor from the 17th June 2024. Unfortunately, during this period there will be no access for members of the public to the first floor of the library; the ground floor will remain operational.
There will also be some restricted parking between Hollins House and Marple Library during this time.
Contractors, Wilmott Dixon have already been appointed for the construction phase of the project.
