Stockport Council is seeking comments on a proposed addendum to the Statement of Community Involvement within its Local Plan in response to changes due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The current Stockport Statement of Community Involvement was adopted in October 2015 and explains how the Council will engage local communities and other interested parties in producing the Local Plan and in determining planning applications. The SCI 2015 can be viewed here.
The Council is preparing an addendum to the SCI 2015 which is intended as an interim update to deal, principally, with the constraints on undertaking community involvement which arise from The Health Protection (Coronavirus) Regulations 2020.
A number of other clauses are included within the addendum to deal with other changes of circumstance since the SCI 2015 was adopted. The proposed addendum can be viewed at on the council’s website and should be read in conjunction with the SCI 2015.
Whilst national Planning Practice Guidance no longer requires the Council to consult when amending a Statement of Community Involvement, the SCI 2015 sets out that when undertaking a review the Council will consult for a period of at least 4 weeks.
Borough residents are invited to submit any comments on the proposed addendum to Stockport Council’s planning policy team no later than 5pm on Friday 18th September 2020.
