Stockport residents are being asked to share their views on council plans to save £20 million from its 2022 Budget.
A public consultation will run until 26th January, inviting residents to comment on plans that will help Stockport Council manage financial pressures being faced by local authorities nationwide while continuing to ensure services meet the needs of local people.
Under the plans, the council is looking to raise an additional £10 million from collecting council tax and grants received. However, a further £10 million of savings to expenditure must also be delivered, which have been grouped into four key priority areas:
- Demand Management – redesigning and prioritising services within Children, Family Services, Education and Adult social care to ensure it delivers the right support to those most in need
- Value for money and commissioning – renegotiating, reviewing and consolidating council contracts and commissioned services
- Radically digital – maximising opportunities that arise from new digital technologies
- Robust corporate governance – reviewing staffing, fees and charges and services offered, as well as exploring new revenue streams for the council
To access the consultation and for more information about the budget proposals, please visit Stockport Council’s consultation website where residents can read the proposals in detail set out by the Council’s Deputy Chief Executive. The consultation is open from 4 January until midnight on 26 January 2022.
