Stockport Council launches Crisis and Resilience Fund as part of cost of living support

A new Crisis and Resilience Fund will support families struggling the the cost of living in Stockport and help build long-term financial resilience.

The fund, which will sit alongside Family Support Vouchers to help with household essentials, is backed by a new three-year grant funded by the UK government. It’s designed to:

• support households who experience a sudden financial shock
• help people to manage their finances and avoid future crisis situations
• strengthen local support systems in the community

The Crisis and Resilience Fund replaces both the Household Support Fund and Discretionary Housing Payments. It covers the period of 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2029 inclusive. Further details about the fund can be found on the Stockport Council website.

Stockport Council will also send out Family Support Vouchers worth £50 per eligible child to help with essential household costs. Families in the borough can use this money towards household essentials and utilities, such as:

• energy and water bills
• food and everyday essentials
• school uniforms
• household items such as hygiene products
