As the ‘Safer in Stockport’ summer campaign comes to an end, the Safer Stockport Partnership (SSP) is highlighting that Stockport is still one of the safest places to live.
The SSP includes Stockport Council and Greater Manchester Police and over the last nine years has helped reduce all crime in Stockport by 51% as well as burglary in people’s houses by 53%.
This sustained period of crime reduction means just over 15,000 people have not become victims of crime.
Councillor Mark Weldon, Deputy Leader from Stockport Council and Executive Member for Corporate, Customer and Community Services, said:
“The SSP is continuing to work hard to keep that none year record of crime reduction going. It is getting harder year-on-year and we need the residents to take the advice and assistance on offer to help us keep Stockport one of the safest places in the country to live, visit and work.”
