Following the expansion of online learning options available, Stockport College has shared its most useful courses for adults to give them skills to see Stockport residents through the Christmas break, or lead to new careers in the New Year.
Adult learning classes are available both online and in person at local community centres as well as in College, with many taking place around working hours. Stockport College shares its top five courses for the festive season below:
Whether you’re looking for self-improvement or to make career gains, the courses could be the signal the start of a New Year and new you as we finally shut the door on 2020.
1. Best for family mediation – Counselling
We all know what it’s like in the run-up to Christmas with families falling in and out. Government guidance states only three households can get together, but how do you let the others down? What about those living on their own or in need at this time of year?
2. Best for skilling up at work – Digital Skills
With eight out of every ten jobs now asking for digital skills, the start of 2021 could be the perfect time to level up your use of technology. Get ahead in a new career or look for a new job with this free six-week Distance Learning Course designed to develop your digital literacy skills.
3. Best for home decorating – Interior Design
We’ve all spent far too long at home to put up with poor décor, so put a College Interior Design course from the College’s Adult Guide on your Christmas wish list, available at Levels 1 and 2.
4. Best for teaching the kids – Online Family Learning
Free Online Family Learning courses available to study at home, offer parents and carers support in teaching children maths, English or IT. There’s even a fully-funded course about how best to budget.
5. Best for changing lives – Health and Social Care
Whether you’re looking for a career change or to further your knowledge about people with learning difficulties, children or seniors in society, Stockport College’s Distance Learning Guide has 15 free courses available to study remotely.
Stockport College’s Distance Learning Courses are all free of charge as well as many Community Courses. A full list of available courses can be found on the Distance Learning and the Adult Guide pages on the college’s website.
