
Stockport College welcomed the borough’s vibrant business community to the Marketing Stockport Networking Event on Wednesday 19th April. The event provided a great opportunity for members of the local business community to come together and visit Stockport College’s new Campus which was officially opened last month.
Many attendees present highlighted they had previously studied at Stockport College, and were impressed by the new facilities including Lyme Building and Arts & Creative Media Centre.
Tracey Wood – Assistant Principal Adult Skills and Employer Engagement at The Trafford College Group – gave an insightful overview of the Trafford College Group, with Gareth Burrows Group, Head of Employment & Skills, discussing Leadership Challenges within business and how the Stockport College can support through their offering of courses. There was lots of discussion from attendees around what makes a good Leader, and the difference in the landscape, post pandemic, with many emerging themes.
Post the event, Stockport College will be offering free funded places for business’ to upskill future leaders in the Stockport business community.

Led by Gareth Burrow, Group Head Employment and Skills at The Trafford College Group, we discussed the subject of ‘Leading with Confidence’ and the importance of business owners recognising the need to train and equip managers, and potential managers, with the proper support and guidance to develop the skills required to lead in an effective manner.”
