Stockport College is no stranger to working with the armed forces due to our wide range of uniformed service courses.
But July 29 will be the first time Stockport College has invited so many former servicemen and women to find out more about our pre-employment courses.
As well as our range of vocational offerings, access to higher education courses, higher education and apprenticeships, we are working with Stepping Hill Hospital to offer a part-classroom, part-work based course to help former service personnel pursue civilian jobs and careers.
Stockport College Community Learning Coordinator Craig Wilkinson said:
“We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Hospital to be able to use the skills of our experienced tutors as well as our wider student support to give former service personnel the chance they deserve at a fulfilling career in civilian life.”
The Veterans and Families Pre-Employment Programme takes place at Stockport College in August with work placements at Stepping Hill Hospital and infrastructure group Balfour Beatty in September and October.
The initiative is being delivered in association with Stockport NHS Trust, Walking With the Wounded, Career Transition Partnership and Project Recce. For more information contact Stockport College Employability and Community Learning on (0161) 8867443.
