Stockport’s Vernon Building Society awarded £793.77 to local charity Walthew House from its £10,000 Jubilee Fund. The independent charity supports people in Stockport who are blind, visually impaired, deaf, hard of hearing or who have dual sensory loss.
The charity used the funding they received from the Jubilee Fund to help refurbish their much-used kitchen which benefits around 250 people with sensory loss on a weekly basis through its luncheon club, food for visitors, events and occasionally even cookery courses.
Vernon Building Society staff attended Walthew House to find out more about the charity and see the kitchen facilities that have been updated as a result of the funding.
Kathryn Sheldon, Fundraiser at Walthew House said:
“We’d like to thank the Vernon Building Society and all of the readers who saved their tokens for us which has enabled us to give our kitchen equipment the massive update it so badly needed.”
The Vernon’s Jubilee Fund will be receiving applications from local charity and community groups again in 2014, interested groups are encouraged to visit the Society’s website for more information.
