Stockport based Windmill Tapes and Labels has benefitted from the Government backed Funding for Lending Scheme at its manufacturing business in Birdhall Lane, Cheadle.
Speaking ‘Live’ on Bloomberg TV this morning, Windmill Tapes Chief Executive Andrew Southern explained how his business has been able to expand and develop by acquiring new printing equipment featuring the latest technology with £600,000 funded through the FLS. The new technology will save the business money and allow them to become more competitive in a challenging sector.
Many large UK based businesses have criticised the scheme stating the scheme is not readily accessible and that not enough monies have been made available through the FLS.
Andrew disagrees and believes that the real reason may be that the FLS has not been well publicised.
Windmill Tapes and labels is another example of a long established, family owned, successful Stockport based business; their main growth strategy is through acquisition and have recently announced the acquisition of Commercial Label Products Ltd; bringing together CLP’s expertise in short run label production and Windmill’s expertise in medium to long run flexographic label printing and plain labelling. We believe this product offering to be unique within the industry and offers both Windmill and CLP customers an unrivalled range of products and services.
They are currently building a new factory alongside their current premises to cater for future growth and expansion.
