A Stockport based butcher was celebrating this week after scooping a top title in this year’s Q Guild Smithfield Awards.
Corry’s Butchers, of Bramhall, took two Diamond awards with its porchetta, winning the Best Kitchen-ready Product category and also the Best Pork category, before going on to take the overall title at the event in Butchers’ Hall, London.
Neil Corry, a 2nd generation butcher has been trading from his shop in Cheshire for 20 years and proud to be members of the prestigious Q Guild of butchers of which there are only 120 in the country.
“We’re thrilled that our products have been recognised in the Smithfield Awards, and we’re especially proud to have received a coveted Diamond award. As a Q Guild member, we regard ourselves as among Britain’s best butchers, and these awards prove that we have the products to match. Winning a Smithfield Award definitely adds value and prestige to our business as a whole.”
Corry’s sell a wide range of high quality fresh meat and specialise in offering a variety of marinated meats and ready to cook dishes including; casseroles, curries and stir-fries. They make all their own sausages on the premises and make their own chorizo with a special blend of handpicked spices.
Neil feels that to survive in today’s market you have to adapt to change and new trends and offer what the customer of today wants alongside the more traditional cuts. To sum up, Corry’s are a friendly bunch of traditional butchers with a modern twist.
Brindon Addy, chair of the Q Guild, said: “The Q Guild represents the best butchers in Britain and the Smithfield Awards really showcase the high levels of knowledge, talent and creativity that our members have. A very well done to everyone that entered, especially the Diamond winners and overall winner Neil Corry.”
