
Stockport businesses which offer or are keen to offer Supported Internships to young people with a learning disability or autism are being invited to attend an online CPD course to get the most out of the placements.]
The course has been organised by the national Internships Work programme which aims to enable 4500 young adults, aged 16-25 with additional needs, to benefit from a supported internship per year by 2025.
Course content is tailored to businesses that manage or mentor someone who is autistic and/or has a learning disability, and those who wish to change perceptions of such people and how they can contribute within an organisation. Content will include:
- What is a supported internship? (Linked to national guidance and Quality Framework)
- How to present the business case for supported internships
- Strategies to engage other employers and teah them what you know
- How to present about supported internships at business events
- How to develop your networking skills
- How to create long term relationships with other businesses on this topic
- How you can galvanise your sector to be at the forefront of change!
The course takes place via Microsoft Teams and will last for 2.5 hours on a range of dates throughout May and June 2023.
