Businesses in Stockport are being encouraged to join the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) for a webinar introducing them to recent changes to consumer protection in the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers (DMCC) Act 2024.
The act is among the biggest shake-ups to consumer protection in the last 15 years, including making a number of key changes to how businesses should sell products and services online. With senior members of the CTSI having advised the Department of Business and Trade (DBT), they are ideally placed to educate businesses on the new legislation.
Webinars are free to attend and are essential for all consumer-facing businesses that wish to understand this important change in legislation. It will be of particular interest to business-to-consumer SMEs who need to understand how the DMCC Act 2024 might affect the way they operate, and content will focus on:
- Unfair Commercial Practices
- Civil Enforcement Regime and new monetary penalties
- Drip Pricing
- Fake Reviews
It will also provide an update on Subscription Contracts, Consumer Saving Schemes and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
The consumer protection webinar lasts 2 hours and there are two sessions available taking from 10am to 12pm, and 2pm to 4pm on Friday 6th June or Thursday 12th June 2025. All sessions cover the same content.
