Stockport Council is inviting the local business community to help support a two-month Spring Clean campaign to get the borough gleaming.
Launched on March 1, Stockport Council are leading a programme of organised clean up events that aim to foster a sense of pride in where we live and work. Among the targets for the campaign are district and local centres, as well as parks and green spaces. The two-month effort was kicked off by council staff, led by council leader Cllr Mark Hunter and Chief Executive Caroline Simpson, who rolled up their sleeves to cleaning up part of the Council’s civic estate around the Town Hall.
Businesses are begin invited to help support the campaign, by encouraging colleagues to help keep the area around your business looking immaculate or volunteering to help in a clean-up activity as a team building exercise.
Alternatively, businesses can think more about how their activities may contribute to litter. Support from the council and partners is available to help review business practices, such as reducing the use of single-use plastic. Change may come simply from inviting staff to think about their choices when they pop out for lunch.
With the majority of Stockport residents having a real sense of pride in where they live and work, Stockport Council hope to highlight some of the great work that goes on in our communities. They will be sharing the success of the campaign on their social media channels where residents will be able to see for themselves the work and challenges involved in keeping Stockport looking shipshape.
If your business is keen on helping out, either by organising an event or assisting with one already planned, please email district.standards@stockport.gov.uk for more information.
