The entries for the 6th Stockport Business Awards are well and truly open; has your business submitted your entry yet?
Today, Rhys Owen from sponsor Orbit Developments shares a little insight into what the judges may be looking for.
There’s one day in Stockport’s business calendar that always brimming with anticipation. The Stockport Business Awards is a social highlight for the whole business community, but for me the judging day is the part I really enjoy and feel privileged to contribute to.
Although it can be a time-consuming process, it’s a joy to read about the variety of successful Stockport based businesses and the dedicated people involved in the entries.
As a judge, I want to give a bit of insight as to what we look for when reading through the entries and choosing our shortlisted companies.
Firstly, sit down and DO IT! As the saying goes, you have to be in it to win it and as entries are free, what do you have to lose? Dedicate an afternoon to writing your entry and you’re already ahead of the game.
Secondly, make sure you read the pointers in the application pack. The key points state what the judges are looking for in each category. The easier you make it for the judges to follow your strengths in the chosen category, the more likely we are to see the great success stories and to include you in the elite list of shortlisted businesses.
Finally, feel free to enter more than one category! However, remember to tailor your applications to suit the requirements in each category.
So, with the entries for this year’s awards now open until Friday 26th May, get writing! Tell us about your stories of growth, your USP’s and even challenges that have helped shape your business, processes and team into the success story you are today.
