Children’s services at Stepping Hill Hospital have performed well according to the latest national Care Quality Commission (CQC) children and young people’s inpatient and day case survey which asked parents a number of questions about the standard of their children’s treatment and care.
Stepping Hill Hospital’s children’s services scored above the national average on nine separate scores, including how well the children were looked after, staff being friendly, children feeling safe and having their privacy respected, and parents being involved in decisions about their child’s care.

One parent who shares this positive few of services on the Tree House children’s ward is Charles Hoy from Cheadle. His son Thomas was recently rushed to hospital with a seizure. Thomas, 13 was very ill and fell into a coma, diagnosed with encephalitis – swelling of the brain. For a time he was critically ill, but thankfully after a few days of care and treatment he had almost fully recovered and was ready for home.
Charles says
“The whole team have been absolutely fantastic with Thomas from start to finish. The staff are such good people who really give the personal touch with their care, I’d like to thanks them so much for what they’ve done for Thomas and for us.”
