Stockport Business & Innovation Centre (SBIC) has established itself as the go-to facility for start-ups in Stockport since its re-launch in November 2013, with the arrival of 12 new businesses.
Since the unveiling of the new-look SBIC, businesses from a range of industries including human resources, web design, copywriting and the legal sector, have moved into the Broadstone Mill site.

New arrivals include HR Heroes, Falcon Home Support, Tangent Design, Minted Melon Designs, Connor Solicitors, Orchid Indulgence, Your Mobile, SSESTECH Ltd, Wordsworks, EVERYtrade Manchester (TDG), iGen Energy Ltd and Sequel Cloud Solutions.
The centre, which is owned by Stockport Council, has also enjoyed a large influx of visitors thanks to the success of its business lounge, which has attracted almost 50 members so far, and corporate bookings of its conference rooms.
Councillor Iain Roberts, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Economic Development and Regeneration, said:
“SBIC is home to a varied range of exciting business, which reflects the diversity and dynamism of the wider Stockport business community. It is always very exciting to see new businesses arriving at the centre and benefitting from the services available to help them grow and prosper at this Stockport Council owned facility.”
John Booth, centre manager at SBIC, said:
“When we arrived here last year we knew the centre had huge potential, because the space and facilities were excellent and there was a great buzz about the building. We knew this, combined with the business incubation programme we offer, would appeal to fledgling business owners looking for the right environment to build their business.
“But the response in the first six months has exceeded our expectations and we’re excited to see what the second half of the year brings.”
