Starkey opens its doors to Tinnitus Awareness Week

Leading global hearing company, Starkey Hearing Technologies, based in Hazel Grove, Stockport is holding a tinnitus event to mark Tinnitus awareness week.

Tinnitus is the sensation of hearing a sound in the absence of any external sound and is widely described as ‘ringing in your ears’.  Tinnitus affects every person differently. This includes how it sounds, how annoying it is, or how debilitating it can be. You might hear different types of sound, for example ringing, buzzing, whooshing or humming.

Tinnitus is very common. About 30% of people will experience tinnitus at some point in their lives. Coping with tinnitus in the workplace can be particularly frustrating and it’s often difficult for people to know where to go for help.

Anyone interested in learning more about tinnitus is invited to drop in to Starkey for advice and information on ways to a manage tinnitus. Starkey experts will be on hand to carry out a hearing evaluation and otoscopy which will allow visitors to take a look inside their ear using a small camera. There will also be advice about the benefits of using hearing protection to help protect against and manage tinnitus.

Whilst it’s true there are no cures for tinnitus there are a number of solutions that allow sufferers to take control of and manage their tinnitus to provide relief from this frustrating condition”.

The Starkey tinnitus event will take place between from 10am-2pm on Tuesday 7^th February at Starkey Hearing Technologies, William F Austin House, Bramhall Technology Park, Hazel Grove, Stockport, SK7 5BX.

Tinnitus Awareness Week (TAW) is an annual event which is taking place from 6-12 February, run by the BTA (British Tinnitus Association). The aim is to raise awareness of the condition and the options available to help people manage their tinnitus.
