Carole Sparks (pictured, centre, with with chief nurse Nic Forth, left, and deputy chief nurse Helen Howard, right), Assistant Chief Nurse for Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, has been presented with the Cavell Star award. The award is given in recognition of the best standards in nursing care and leadership across the country.
Carole began her nursing career in 1984, and joined Stockport NHS as a newly qualified staff nurse in 1988. She has now worked as a nurse in Stockport for 37 years, holding a number of positions including ward sister and clinical risk manager. She has held her current position for the past ten years.
Carole is described by colleagues as kind, caring and compassionate leader, always visible and approachable, and always willing to take the time to give support and coaching where it is needed. She has been especially supportive of colleagues experiencing particularly difficult times recently.
Helen Howard, Deputy Chief Nurse for Stockport NHS Foundation Trust said:
“I am really delighted that Carole has received the Cavell Star award, which she has truly earned. Carole wears her uniform with pride, and maintains and role models high standards at all times. Her wisdom is profound and she is always able to offer a good sounding board, as well as being a professional, dedicated valued member of the team. She has had an amazing career to date and continues to thrive in her role. Congratulations Carole!”
