Heald Green based hospice charity, St Ann’s Hospice, has raised £8,500 with its two annual Christmas fairs.
The fairs were held at the hospice’s Heald Green site in St Ann’s Road North, and the Little Hulton hospice site. The fair included gift stalls, tombolas, festive family entertainment, and a visit from Santa. There were also mince pies and mulled wine for visitors to enjoy.
Eamonn O’Neal, Chief Executive of St Ann’s, said:
Our annual St Ann’s Christmas Fairs are a highlight in our fundraising calendar and we know that lots of families in the community also look forward to them and see them as the perfect way to start the festive season.
“We only receive around a third of our funding from the NHS so we have to fundraise about £20,000 a day to keep our services and our three hospice sites as well as our community and outreach care provision going for local patients. As well as being a great festive afternoon out for families our annual Christmas Fairs enable us to raise valuable funds to help us care for our patients and their families, so it’s wonderful that so many local people come along and support us.
“I can’t tell you how much we appreciate this support, the people of Manchester never cease to amaze us with their warmth and generosity. Thank you so much to everyone who joined us at the fairs and Merry Christmas from all of us at St Ann’s Hospice.”
St Ann’s cares for people from its three hospice sites in Heald Green, Little Hulton and the Neil Cliffe Centre in Wythenshawe Hospital, as well as via a range of other community and outreach services. It is one of the oldest hospices outside of London, and will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2021.
