The first 16 sponsors have secured their places in Stockport’s Giant Leap Forward, a giant frog art trail that will see frogs leaping on to their lily pads across Stockport town centre this summer.
This summer visitors to Stockport will be met with giant frogs, sponsored by local businesses and community groups, to create a fantastic attraction for everyone, irrespective of age, who will be able to follow the frog trail, take photos of their favourite frogs and share them with their family and friends, co-workers and customers.
The project is being managed by Totally Stockport, Stockport’s Business Improvement District who have been running a campaign to recruit local artists to design and paint the giant frogs. The winning designs are in the process of being matched to the sponsors and will be announced shortly.

Businesses have already leapt forward to sponsor Stockport’s Giant Leap Forward.
Businesses have already jumped at the chance to sponsor a frog with the project attracting media interest on both a regional and national scale including Orbit Developments, CDL, Marketing Stockport, Robinsons Brewery, Nexperia, C&C Insurance Brokers, Amshire IT, Merseyway Shopping Centre, Holiday Inn Express, The Light Cinema, Stockport Council, Totally Stockport, Spring & Co and Girlguiding Stockport
Stockport’s £1bn regeneration plan is set to pave the way for investment, development and growth. A giant leap forward for Stockport, creating exciting opportunities for business and a destination of choice for residents and visitors.
While the art trail is designed to be fun, it also presents an opportunity to showcase Stockport, its business community and show how the town centre is changing. The giant frogs will be leaping onto lily pads strategically located throughout the town centre, creating an engaging and vibrant, outdoor art trail attracting thousands of people from across the region. People from all ages and backgrounds, from businesses, schools and community groups are being invited to take part in the project, visit the trail, explore the town and seek out all 20 frogs.
Paul Taylor, BID Manager at Totally Stockport said:
“This is a huge project for Stockport and we’ve been planning the Giant Leap Forward Art Trail since last year. We have been overwhelmed with the positive response we have had from our partners, businesses, community groups and potential artists.
“The project is designed to increase town centre footfall, to promote Stockport and the businesses located here as well as to support local groups, including the youth community who are after all tomorrow’s giant leapers.
“This is great opportunity for businesses to get noticed: outdoor advertising with a difference and a unique PR opportunity across multi-channels”.
Stockport’s Giant Leap Forward has its own dedicated website – and printed trail books will be available as both hard copies and to download.
After the trail closes, the frogs will be auctioned for charity to create a Giant Leap legacy fund.
