Damar Training, a specialist provider of apprenticeship training in Stockport, has placed Alexandra Rowland-Jones with a logistics and supply chain recruitment consultancy, also in Stockport.
Strive Supply Chain, has decided to ‘grow their own’ talent by taking on an apprentice – a route not widely used in the recruitment sector.
As part of the arrangement, Damar provides the core training for Alexandra who is working towards a customer service apprenticeship. They will assist the team at Strive in managing the apprenticeship programme effectively within the busy recruitment office environment where traditionally, recruitment consultancies have not invested in apprenticeship programmes as the fast-paced nature of the industry limits the amount of time that management can dedicate to apprentice training and development.
Jonathan Bourne (left), managing director of Damar Training, commented:
“It’s fantastic to see Strive Supply invest in apprenticeship schemes. We are seeing significant growth in the number of employers seeking to ‘grow their own’ talent by hiring apprentices, particularly in sectors such as recruitment, which haven’t typically taken this route.”
Javed Ashraf, managing partner at Strive Supply, explained the company’s decision to take on an apprentice and work towards developing home-grown talent, saying that they are giving Alexandra the opportunity to grow within their company and the industry:
“In the short time she has been with us, Alexandra has proven to be an invaluable asset to the business and her success may open the doors to more apprentices at Strive”, said Javed.
