Transport for Sick Children is a children’s charity based in Stockport. We have a team of volunteer drivers who take children to hospital appointments throughout Greater Manchester.
Our volunteer drivers continue to demonstrate remarkable generosity and community spirit. During the year, they helped 639 children attend essential healthcare appointments, completing 4,024 journeys and covering 77,095 miles.
Behind every journey is a child receiving the care they need and a family being supported at a difficult time.
Our role within the Greater Manchester health and care system remains vital. We help children and families, particularly those facing financial hardship, access essential healthcare when transport would otherwise be a barrier.
The need for our service continues to grow. Research shows that child poverty remains a significant challenge across Greater Manchester, with more than 40% of children living in poverty in some communities. For many families, the cost and practical challenges of accessing healthcare can be significant, making our service more important than ever.
Thanks to the commitment of our volunteers, staff, trustees, supporters and donors, we continue to make a meaningful difference across Greater Manchester.
