Krazy Races and Totally Stockport will bring the popular soapbox derby back to Stockport town centre on 9th August 2026.
The last Stockport Krazy Races event in May 2023 saw over 15,000 spectators cheer on 30 soapbox teams, with nearly £20,000 raised for charitable causes in the town.
Next year’s event will see competitors tackle a 350-metre downhill course featuring chicanes, obstacles, water splashes, and surprises. Homemade soapbox karts will launch from the starting line and race through the heart of Stockport, cheered on by thousands of fans. A vibrant event village will also feature local food stalls, entertainment, and activities for all the family.
As always, the event is powered by the creativity and courage of local teams. Organisers are now calling on 20–40 teams from Stockport to step up, build their soapbox karts, and compete for glory: with trophies up for grabs for Fastest Kart, Best Design, Best Performance, and a public vote. Applications to enter a team are open on the Krazy Races website.
Danny Scoffin, Head of Business at Krazy Races, said:
“We are so excited to be bringing Krazy Races back to Stockport in 2026 after a two-year break. The last event was incredible, with thousands turning out to watch the action and nearly £20,000 raised for local charities. Since then, we’ve toured the country, developing and adding new features to make the experience even better — and we can’t wait to bring these additions to Stockport, which holds a very special place in our hearts. With the support of Totally Stockport BID, we’re going bigger than ever before!”
Shaun Freeman-Jones, Totally Stockport BID Manager, said:
“We’re thrilled to be funding the return of Krazy Races to Stockport and working alongside the Krazy Races team and Stockport Council to make it a reality. It’s fantastic to see local businesses come together to create such imaginative soapboxes, and the event never fails to draw a huge crowd. We can’t wait to welcome it back to town!”
Cllr Micheala Meikle, Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration at Stockport Council, said:
“Krazy Races has become one of the stand-out highlights of Stockport’s event calendar, and we’re delighted to welcome it back in 2026. This is Stockport firing on all cylinders and brings thousands of people into our town, boosts our local economy, gives businesses a lift, and shines a spotlight on everything Stockport has to offer.”
