SJS Smith Jewellery, founded in 2017 by silversmith Sam Smith, has rebranded as Stockport Jewellery School to better represent its core mission—teaching the art of jewellery making.
What started as a series of pop-up workshops at various locations has grown into a thriving creative hub. After establishing a dedicated space on the A6, the school took its next big step in September 2023, opening its doors on Little Underbank, the historic and rapidly developing heart of Stockport.

While many visitors know Stockport Jewellery School for its shopfront filled with handcrafted silver designs, few realise that a fully equipped jewellery school sits just below, where students of all levels can learn traditional silversmithing techniques in a welcoming and inspiring environment.
Sam’s handmade jewellery will still be available under the SJS Smith Jewellery brand; however, the school will now have its own identity, making it easier to manage both aspects of the business as it grows.
Sam Smith explains the motivation behind the rebrand:
“Teaching has always been at the heart of what I do. The business has evolved, and it’s time the name reflected that. Stockport Jewellery School isn’t just a shop—it’s a space where creativity thrives, skills are shared, and people discover the joy of making their own jewellery.”
The rebrand marks an exciting new chapter, cementing Stockport Jewellery School’s place as a centre for craftsmanship and learning in the town’s growing creative scene.
