Stockport Council have appointed Seddon as the main contractor for Aurora, Stockport’s newest industrial park.
Selected following a competitive tender process, work is anticipated to begin site next month with the first units available for businesses in early 2017.
Located alongside junction 1 of the M60, Aurora Stockport will transform an 18 acre derelict site close to Stockport town centre into a modern 145,000 sq ft industrial park comprising 10 light industrial units ranging from 8,700 sq ft to 47,000 sq ft, bringing jobs and opportunities for residents and businesses.
The multi-million pound development is being led by Stockport Council and comes at a time when the demand for industrial units in Stockport continues to increase due to the town’s exceptional workforce and connectivity. Aurora Stockport is one of the Growth projects being undertaken as part of Stockport Council’s £900m Investing in Stockport programme.
Councillor Patrick McAuley, Executive Member for Thriving Economy at Stockport Council said “I am delighted to welcome Seddon Construction to the Aurora Stockport team. The standard of tenders received was very high and I am confident that Seddon will help us achieve our vision of transforming this area of our town into a thriving industrial park.
“I am excited about how work on our Growth projects is pressing ahead at the moment. Not only do we have a number of projects on site, but over recent weeks we have been able to make a number of announcements about companies such as Holiday Inn Express investing in the town centre. The fact the first units at Aurora Stockport will be available in early 2017 will help our town grow even further.”
“Aurora Stockport is a unique development, which Seddon is thrilled to be part of” said Ed Wootton, Regional Director of North West Construction. “Seddon have always been committed to investing in our people. The prospects for providing training and employment opportunities across the supply chain during this build are fundamental to our core values. Along with the long term plan to transform the site into a thriving area for local businesses, this project will provide a strong contribution to the Investing in Stockport programme.”
CBRE have been appointed as agents for Aurora Stockport (Stephen Capper 0161 233 5616) with Stockport Council’s property partners Carillion and CBRE acting for the Council as Development Manager and Project Managers.
