Stockport disability charity, Seashell Trust, has been shortlisted to receive 20% of the August profits from voucher codes website, Discount Promo Codes.
Discount Promo Codes donates 20% of their profits to charity, with a new charity partner selected each month. Seashell Trust has been chosen as one of three organisations shortlisted to receive funds for the month of August, with the chosen charity voted on by site users.
Seashell Trust has been forced to cancel around £200,000 of fundraising events due to the coronavirus pandemic but is mitigating this through moving as much of its fundraising activity online as possible, as well as through the generous support of the local community. The charity provides support and education to children with complex learning disabilities and specialist communication needs.
Despite lockdown, 28 children have continued living on the Seashell Trust campus with 20 receiving a day service in the charity’s school.
The charity is also asking supporters to sponsor a balloon to take part in a virtual race across the Sahara Desert. The last date to buy a balloon is Friday 7th August, with a virtual launch on Saturday 8th.
The charity has also seen donations of 1,000 sandwiches for staff during the crisis, 5000 bottles of hand sanitiser and 20,000 face masks to reduce risk of cross contamination at the charity’s Cheadle Hulme campus.
Seashell Trust has also confirmed that supporters of the charity have raised over £40,000 through the 2.6 Challenge, a national fundraising campaign set up in response to the cancellation of the London Marathon and other mass-participation sporting events due to social distancing restrictions.
